hi all..

Could anyone detail me the significance and difference in working of the Repeater, when Running the wrpt command with a negative value for the net_load tuning argument on a repeater.

i have not been able to find anything on this in the books..

There are two ways to specify the net_load parameter, as a positive and a negitive number. If the net_load is 500 then the distribution will take up 500KB of network bandwidth at a time. If you as distributing to 10 machines each machine will be receiving data at APPROX. 50KB/sec.

Setting the net_load to a negative number will allow you to specify how much of the network to use for EACH connection. So if your network is a 10MB switched Ethernet network, each machine is capable of receiving 10MB of data at a time. So, if we set the net_load to -1000 (approx. 10MB/sec) each machine on the distribution will be receiving data at 10MB/sec. no matter how many machines are in the distribution.

I have a white paper on this if you would like me to fax it to you.. just gimmie a holler!
