I have a computer with a registration problem.
The original registration of the xp pro software was fine. But there are various regsitry files that was missing, so I reinstalled/upgraded with the same software (all legal, no copies)and now on every boot it asks for the software to be registered with microsoft. It registers fine, but loops back to the same problem on the next re-boot.
I now have a wireless Belikn router that the machine is running through, could this be the problem? The count down is counting still - any ideas?
Thanx

Well, I'm sorry to say that the only fix I know of for this is to call the number given to you during the Activation process. MS should be able to walk you through getting rid of this message.

I have already tried the telephone method (all be it the automated one) but still the same result. Any more idea's?

If the other thread doesn't work, you're going to have to get a live person on the phone at Microsoft. It is the only legal way to get around this issue.

Sandie67,

It is very possible that your router is interfering with the
registration. If your router has IP cloning cabability, clone the IP address (mac address) of your network interface card, if that's what you had connected to before the router, and then try to re-register. During the registration process, some
of your computer's information in sent an stored at Microsoft
to prevent piracy.

Try that. If that doesn't work, call Microsoft.

Thanks all, tried the router option - no good. Also tried the other options on the phone - no good. Someone suggested that Norton Internet Security may cause xp pro to play up. Does anyone know of this?

Still losing all info on reboot (including the automated telephone method).
Not sure what to do next!

Hi Sandie67,

I'm sorry to press this but have you tried the suggestions in the thread I posted above? This contains suggestions made by Microsoft Staff in direct relation to the problem that you are having.

If you have tried then I appologise for repeating myself
