Hello
I have an Access 97 database which is being used by remote users on their local machines/networks, all of which are using different versions of Access. I need to build a batch file which will repair this database but will remain as an Access 97 file no matter which version is repairing this database... Is this achievable? The tests I have done so far in 2000 and XP automatically converts Access 97 to those formats upon Compacting and or repairing.

It is essential to keep the version to Access 97 as the SQL front-end has only been written to recognise 97 mdb back end files.

Many taa's

I've never used a batch file before but, I've repaired an Access 97 database before using Access 2000. After compacting/Repair, I convert as Prior Access Database Version.

Tools -> Database Utilities -> Convert Database -> To Prior Access Database Version...

I've tested it at PCs which use Office 97 and they can still use it.

Maybe someone else has a better method.

thank you nitelink. the reason why i would like to repair (and convert back if necessary) on a batch file is so that these users do not use the menu tools as we have taken the toolbar menu from their database. Can you point me in the right direction to get the code for doing this from a command button instead of a batch file?
