renaming username

Hi all

I have a couple of clients who use a buffalo linkstation to store and share their files.

There is a folder which i'd like to restrict using the buffalo's access restrictions. We do not have a server.

I run into a problem as the xp usernames are longer than the buffalo user names allow.

XP will not let me connect to multiple shares with different usernames so i would like to rename the XP usernames.

What is the best way to do this??

What happens when you try to connect to a share with a different username? What version of XP are you using?

In XP PRo, you can connect to a share using a different username. Simply choose "Connect using a different usename" when mapping the resource.
