Renaming data labels on a chart

Is it possible to rename a chart's data labels? I am using the advanced layout option in the Chart Expert to group values by day from many formulas.

The labels are named "Sum of @Arch" and "Sum of @Crunch". I'd like to remove the Sum of, and the @ prefix if possible.

I am using Crystal Reports 8.0.

Thanks,
Bontebok

I think you can do it on 8 ....
Just click on the label you want to change --- just to give focus to it --- should have little black squares at the corners. Once you have focus, You "Right Click" and there you should see an option to "Edit Axis Label..."

Hope that helps.

I did exactly what you said, but I can only format the item, there is no option to edit the label. Must be available in newer versions of Crystal?

Thanks,
Bontebok

Yeah..I think it might just be a newer version feature. I don't have 8, so I can't be certain of that. :(
Sorry.

Dear Bontebok,

That feature was added in CR 10.

The only workaround to this is if it is the legend to create a faux legend ... Create Your chart, don't display legend and insert field objects and filled color boxes correlating to the item and it's color on the chart below the chart. Make your chart transparent and you can slide them under the chart.

I have derived a way to do that in CR 8.0 & 8.5.

Step1: Hide Legend ie dont' display legend
Step2: Add a "text field" which displays the name of the data label you want & place it wherever you would like to see it:)

Go to the chart expert->text tab and uncheck "Auto-text" for the chart title and data title and replace with the text you prefer.
