I recently set up a new server running SBS 2003. When I created the domain, I named it domain.local. Now this client had their MAC expert come into set up the MAC's on the network. He will be installing some software so they play nice with the SBS 2003. However, he said there are issues with MAC's connecting to a domain ending in .local and recommends that we change it to something like domain.lan or whatever.

Is there a way I can do this without reinventing the wheel?

Thanks in advance for any tips in the right direction.

Here is a link from the apple site on how to make a mac work in a .local domain

If I remember correctly after a certain revision of the Mac OS this isn't a problem but I can't remember what version that is.
