I have just re-installed Win2k pro on a pc and realised I had typed the name in wrong. I changed the name and rebooted and now it will not logon to the domain. I get the message "The system cannot log you on to this domain because the system's computer account in it's primary domain is missing or the password on that account is incorrect". I've opened AD and deleted and re-created the account and it still wont logon. Also, it will not let me logon locally as it says the password is wrong ! I'd like to get it on the domain without re-installing the OS, and without installing another copy of the OS if possible....

Help !

Can you log on with any local admin account?
If you can, unjoin the domain and rejoin.

If not, try making a computer account for both the old name and the new one.

The local admin password I thought I'd used is not being accepted, and I hadn't setup any other local admin accounts.

I've setup another account for the old computer name but still with no luck.

I can open a mangement console on the pc via AD but can't access Local Users and Groups.
