Renamed Account can no longer access emails

We have renamed a user in AD Users and computers and the user can no longer access the emails and the user name does not appear in the address book.
We have renamed users in the past with no problems.

In AD Users and computer the Email Addresses Tab has disappeared, but the user has an mailbox on the exchange 2000 server and the users new name appears to be correct.

On trying to setup Outlook on the users PC we get a message saying the name cannot be resolved.

Any Ideas
 
In ESM reconnect the mailbox to the renamed user.

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!
