Rename Domain Controllers Machine name

Is there a way to rename the Domain controllers machine name. I have no users connected, the server is not yet being used on the network but I was an idiot and named the server to long for the windows95 & 98 machines to run the login scripts.

Windows 2000 you can not change the name of a DC. You will have to run DCPROMO again and demote the server to a member server. Then change the name and run DCPROMO again.
