removing text from an internet image

Flood-fill the text region with the background colour.
The best tool I've found to do this is to promote your image to a layer, then use your clone tool set at a small diameter (5 pixels up to 10, say) and using small strokes, cover the text with the image information adjacent to it.
You have to use small/short strokes in order not to smear the text.
