removing RTF formatting

I need to remove the rtf formatting from strings like the following

"\pard \sb80 \sa40 \b0 \f2 \cf2 \'e0\'e1\cf0 \f0 \par \f3 'e\u770?b\cf0 \f0 \par \i1 abe\cf0 \i0 \par From the same as H24; a \i1 green\i0 plant: - greenness, fruit.\par \pard \sb80 \sa40"

and get back just the text. I tried importing it into a richtextbox via its .RTF property but it said it was an invalid format...

Sorry, I never did find a solution. I simply moved past the project. :\
