Removing Linux and installing XP 1

Hi guys, I installed Redhat 9 but now as I want to install WinXP, it doesn't let me do that. I need to remove Linux and Install XP. Here is how I installed Linux, I gave all the space (40 GB) on my hard drive to Linux and it partitioned my hard drive as it wanted to. Then I formatted the hard drive with Fdisk, created partitions but when I run the setup for XP, it can't find the hard drive or any of the partitions i made with fdisk. Plz tell me how can i get rid of this problem, TC!

if you boot from your windows xp disk, and run the setup it should show you the partitions no matter who formated them. then have xp format the partitions before doing the install.

Thanks Chris, I had tried that before but still gave it a shot after your adviced, again without any luck. Actually when i run setup, it says "there is no hard drive on which to install" then the only option I get is to exit setup. I hope you will have some other solution to it, TC!

Yup, I've heard of these XP version CD's that will do this. Nasty stuff.

Get a Win98 boot floppy or similar, boot it and run fdisk to wipe drive out. Don't create any partitions, the XP cd should do that during install - it's looking for free space and hasn't been finding any.

Your's non-system loader contains Linux partions. NT/2000/XP won't see hard drive at all unless you will
remove this linux stuff using Linux utilities (fdisk)
or any kind of other Partition Magic utility understanding
what Linus partitioning does to non-system loader record.
After doing so: NT/2000/XP will see your drive again and
will be able to create it's own partions. That's why any double booting with Linux is performed using the last partition of master or slave drive.
I always use fdisk to remove all Lunix Partions when Linux
is still alive and only after that proceed with XP reinstalling
