I am in the process of cleaning up the limited space on the C: partition on the hard drive in our Server with NT 4.0 and Back Office Small Business Server loaded on it. I have questions on 3 files as follows:

[1] There is a dormant NavNT Antivirus program on C: [the server has no internet connection so we decided no Antivirus was needed] and when I am about to remove it the message comes up "This change may impact one or more registered programs - do you wish to continue?" .. I am guessing this is a standard message but would like to make sure before I remove it.

[2] At c:\winnt.sbs\systems32\DTCLog there is a file msdtc.log which has not been modified since Jan 1998 - can I get rid of it?

[3] In the program Arcserve at C:\program files\arcserve\database\ there are 7 identical files rAAAAAAA.chg all 2048 kb having dates ranging from May 2000 to October 2002. There is also 1 with the same name of 4608 kb size last modified 6\24\03. Can I get rid of the first 7 files??

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you.

To your first question, yes, it is a standard warning. As for the other 2 questions, I don't use SBS or ArcServe, sorry.

In answer to your third question, you can delete the rAAAAAAA.chg files but you will need to stop the Arcserve engines first (database, job and tape). Check out the following for further information:
It refers to database corruption which may not be the case for you but it will also give you some pointers on the best procedure for deleting database files.
Good luck.
