Is it possible to programatically remove or at least uncheck a component from the components list?

I have a program that has some optional add-ins which the user can delete by deleting the XLS/XLA file. If this is done, after the XLS/XLA has been loaded in to the component list, Excel will complain that it cannot find the find the next time it is started.

Users find this annoying. Any ideas?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Deleting the addin is NOT the appropriate way to remove it.
Unchecking it under Tools-Addins is the correct way to keep an addin from being loaded.

Programmatically, you can "uncheck" them---just record a macro that checks/unchecks an addin and you'll get code you can modify to suit. Anne Troy
