This may be a silly ques but whats the best way to remove an NT pdc and put a 2000 pdc in its place? Please advise...i have the 2000 server up and running and it is part of the current NT domain...also, the workstations are running XP...

Thanks ...the higher the fewer...

You can't do it that way. If you're trying to preserve your current domain and it's settings, the best way would be to clean up your NT domain as best as you can, upgrade your NT PDC to 2K (have a BDC offline just in case of disaster), then join your new 2K server to that domain as a second DC. Once replication is running well, you can transfer all the roles/services over to the newer machine and take the old one out....

Tried and true bronto. That's what we did, worked like a charm. Now have two dc's running the domain. HerbRoach52, listen to him, he knows what he talks about. Good luck.
