I'm going through and cleaning up my development server (I dont feel like rebuilding it) and am wanting to remove some old services I do not use anymore (an old web mail service that used apache) The software did not come with an uninstall app so I'm stuck removing it by hand.
any ideaS?

It's not perfect, but it does work to an extent. If the service is listed in the service (administration tools), set it to start manually and not automatically. Restart the computer and make sure the service didn't start and you don't have any dependencies on it (check the logs for errors). Search through the registry for the path of the folder in which the program is installed. Remove these entries, along with any other references you find to the service. Delete the files associated with the service. If the service installed itself in it's own seperate folder, then you shouldn't have too much problems. If the service installed into the windows folder, good luck trying to remove it. One way to find out what the program has is to do a clean install on a test computer and create an .MSI for it with the utilities. By examining the .MSI, you can determine what the program puts on the computer.
