remove system icons

i would like to remove 'my computer', 'recycle bin' and ' my network places' icons from my desktop.

is this possible

Start Menu -> Run -> type : mmc --> Console -> Add new Snap Shot -> add a group policy --> under user configuration -> Desktop -> you will be able then from the Right Side to Control of all the System Icons ..
