i have a data in TXT file which seperated by ",". when i try to link the data with comma (,) seperation it worked fine
but in every record i have the double quote (") like below

"sumit" "15-jan-06" "" ""

it seperated by (,) how can i make a seperation for (",")..?

By your example, the text file looks SPACE delimited, not comma delimited?

I don't completely understand your question - do you want the embedded quotes included in your field? I just tried a sample text file that looks like this:

first field , second field , embedded "double quotes" , last field

and linked it fine - you need to hit the ADVANCED button on the lower left of the first dialog box, and look for the"text qualifer" combo box over towards the right top - click it and select "NONE" as the option, rather than the double-quote default.

When you do this, Access does NOT treat double quotes as any kind of delimiter, and simply reads them as part of the field.

If this is not what you want, re-post with clarification and a sample line of the text in the file.

Jim, I think ragu111 is looking for the opposite. Sounds like the problem is that he had {none} as the text qualifier, but he needed to have " as the qualifier. His complaint is that after importing the fields, each one was enclosed with double-quotes and he wants to know how to purge them.

ragu111, if I'm right, then on the second screen of the wizard where you choose the comma delimiter, make sure you also select " from the Text Qualifier combo box. This will strip out the double-quotes from the data.

Larry, you're probably correct. I was looking at my monitor from behind, so everything was mirror-reversed...had a hell of a time figuring it it...every time I hit "ENTER", the last character I typed disappeared. By the time I finished, I'd just begun...
