This is a re-posting: I inadvertently posted the original in the XP forum, which was causing some confusion in the give and take of answers, so thought to re-post it here.
I have a small W2K server with Citrix Metaframe on top. I have a new class of user being formed, one which will be able to dial in and look at data we place there for it. Nothing more.
I was looking for a way to hide the 'my network places' icon on the desktop so the clients would not be tempted to try to browse about the network from that Metaframe server. However I wish to keep the icon for our everyday remote users as they access things all over the LAN from their connections.
The group policy editor allows me to remove the icon from the desktop however even under the sub-heading 'users' it does not seem to allow me to specify a single user or group to apply the rule to. Instead it seems to be all or none.
TweakUI was mentioned as a possible solution, however installing it did not seem to change the offerings of the GPE, nor did it have a specific user offering about this.
Might anyone have a suggestion? Or did I miss something in front of my nose?
Thanks
Paul
