I was previously using ICS to connect computers on my network to the internet and have switched to a router for the purpose and would like to remove ICS from my Win2K system. Is this possible and if so, where do I do it.

I know that if you are using ME this is how you would remove ICS, it may be the same for W2K.

In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs .

Click the Windows Setup tab.

In the Components box, double-click Communications .

Click to clear the Internet Connection Sharing check box, click OK , and then click OK .

Restart your computer when prompted.

If not you can use the Internet Tools component in Add/Remove Programs to remove Internet Connection Sharing (ICS).

I go to Add/Remove Programs and click on Add/Remove Windows Components (no Setup Tab there). From this point there is not a Communications selection and none of the selections given show ICS as an option. In addition, there is no Internet Tools selection available in Add/Remove Programs.

I would recommend just turning ICS off. It's not that big progam, and if it's turned off, it doesn't use any system resources. Go to your CONTROL PANEL and click on ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS, then click on PERSONAL WEB MANAGER. Then click on STOP in that program.

Opps, I thought you were talking about IIS. LOL. disreguard that previous message.

Easy one. Just go to Settings - Network & Dialup Connections - Right-click on your Internet connection - Properties - Sharing - Uncheck Enable Internet Connection Sharing.
