Hello out there!

I´m really getting desperate. I cannot remove the drives from a notebook with a defective harddisc. I removed all screws, looked for hidden locks etc, tried to lift the keyboard after removing the K-screws but it seems like it would break before relinquising any drive.
Help, please!!!

Most Toshiba Satellites have the hard disk located underneath the battery. There's usually a side panel that can be removed once the battery has come out which provides access to the hard disk.

I haven't worked on that exact model, so I'm assuming it's similar to dozens of others :)

I hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks for your reply CitrixEngineer but you are wrong. Tnank god I found a specialist today who had the clue: You have to open the notebook completely, remove the cover of the LEDs above the keyboard (it´s clipped and you wouldn´t guess that it can be removed so easily) and underneath the screws for the keyboard appear. You also have to remove the screws that are maked K on the back of the notebook. Then you can lift the keyboard and here you are. Obviously this design was favoured because HDs can´t be stolen so easily.

I have a Toshiba Satellite 1605CDS that had a hard disk failure. Is it possible to get a new hard drive and replace the bad one? It has been given a new role as paperweight and I'd love to get it back up and working... Matt Wray
