How do I remove unused items located on the STARTUP TAB in the SYSTEM CONFIGURATION UTILITY.

You can remove these item from the either the Startup folder OR the registry, depending on where they are located. If they are in the registry you can look in 2 places.
HKEY_LCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run (There are several Run style folders here to also look in.)
Also try:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run (There are several Run style folders here to also look in.)

Let me know how this works. James Collins

Thanks. I was posting the following to Annoyances.org when I got email notification of your answer.
I guess I should have looked a little harder. I got rid of the offending items under HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE-SOFTWARE-MICROSOFT-WINDOWS-CURRENT VERSION RUN AND -RUN. I just deleted these keys. These programs I deleted were long gone off my puter.

I guess if did't get in a hurry to find things I would have better results. Thank Anyway
