I have not failed, I just found 10000 ways that don't work

There's a utility in the Resource Kit called Netsvc which should allow u to remotely manage services......

(I was looking at sc.exe from the resource kit, but that didn't work well... I'll try netsvc...)

Use Server Manager. It's already there. Select the server you want, select computer, and services.

I do this all the time.

I appreciate your reply, but how can you use server manager to start and stop services from the command line ??? ;-)

duh... and how do you want to use this to start and stop services on a remote server ???
