Hello,
I have two servers. One of them is connected to an UPS which it can communicate by serial port. Another one is connect to the same server but it can’t communicate with the UPS. On the first server I installed PowerChute software for supervising the UPS. When PowerChute shutdown the first server I want to execute remotely an application on the second server.
I wonder if it is possible to do it using some Windows scripts.
Best regards,
Eugen

You could use TrippLite's software called: PowerAlert. It's a software solution that can work for all servers (and workstations that have a UPS also.

You bascially set up a UPS Remote Server on one machine and setup clients on all the others.

The server alerts the clients when there is a problem (like a power failure) and you can tell your clients what you want them to do.

I have my servers shutdown when there is less than 5 minutes of juice left in the UPS.

You could also call the RMCMD.EXE command from the resource kit or the SHUTDOWN.EXE from the resource kit also.

RMCMD.EXE is a remote command program and the shutdown.exe does remote computer shutdowns (with the proper rights of course).

Hope this helps.
