Is there any way to do this ?

I was hoping users could connect to our VPN and run phone manager lite to do this. However apparently the phone manager lite product does not work across vlans.

Any other options ?

Cant be done with Embeded VM
Who says Phone manager does not wok across VLANS?
as long as the PC has a valid route to the IPO (IE you can ping it) then it should work, if not they you have something on your network blocking the traffic.

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

It does work across VLANs done it several times, using Sonicwalls or the likes to route between VLANs is usually the best way to stop it working though :)

While our phone vendor was here, he called avaya support and I heard the technician say that phone manager lite doesn't work across vlans. Maybe he was trying to say it's not supported ?

In any case, I felt like there might be more to this. Taking the vpn out of the picture, I can ping our ipoffice from another vlan inside the office, but phone manager lite will not find it from a different vlan even if I specify the IP address.

So ping does work, I have the firewall turned off on the laptop ... what else could i check ? Could it be something with the IP route setup in the IPoffice, or does the fact that pings work indicate the routes are OK ?

Thanks !

Sorry that was bad information. I cannot ping from another subnet, it only worked when I was on the wireless which is on the same vlan as the IPOffice.

I'm going to look at the IP route setup on the IPoffice.

VLAN's are usually not the problem, the network setup is.
Bad routing results in bad network performance.

That's partially right and partially wrong.

BLF indication on PM lite and PMPro is broadcast based. Broadcast does (by definition) not cross VLANs, so BLF does not work - apart from the 1st 10 PM clients from different subnets that register to the system, where the BLF is carried as unicast.

PM Lite should connect to IP office from a routed connection and you be able to control your handset etc. I wouldn't expect BLF to work

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.
