If a user request a file which is located on tape the file appears as usual. What happens when the remote storage service dumps files to tapes next time? Will the file be stored again on a new tape?

Is there any good white paper? I've had a look at the Howto in knowledge base but it doesnt answer my question.

Lets make an example instead:

Lets say i have the volume E:\ marked for remote storage. On E:\ i have a file called 123456.zip. This file is actually on tape and doesn't take up any space.

If i however copy the file to another location the remote storage "icon" which indicates the file is on tape disappears. What happens with that file next time the schedule runs that copies all files to tape?

Hope you understand it better.

When you say another location, do you mean from E:\ to say d:\? And wouldn't it only disappear if you were doing a move function not a copy function. Forgive me if I am now starting to confuse you as I am not familiar with the technology that you are using.

If it is copied from E:\123456.zip to E:\archives\123456.zip I could only hope that it would re-catalog its location.
