I have service observing going programmed to a button. Is it possible to monitor while off site. Is there a way to dial into the switch auto attendant or an extension, to then press a code or a button while on the phone off site to then input an ext and observe?

If so? how to go about?

thanks

Mikey

You need to have remote access and service observe remote (by FAC) turned on in your PBX.

Then you need to assign a DID extension as the remote access extension. You'll have to assign it a COR and COS that are capable of service observe. I also reccomend setting up a barrier code of at leas 5 digits.

Then you change features and set up a feature access code for service observe.

After that is all done, call into the remote access extension, enter the barrier code, dial the FAC for service observe, dial the station or agent you wish to observe. If they are not on the phone, you will hear silence until they are on a call. If they are an agent, you will get a busy signal if the are not logged in.

you can do it via Remote-access
first config you FEA access code
ch fea
Services Observing Listenig Only Access Code XX
ch cor X
Can be a services Obverver ? y
and apply the cor on you Remote access
so
dial your remote access and your FEA and the extension

thanks all. so if I am right. when after programming. I dial the did ext. when it picks up an audix answers I punch in the barrier code and then the fea access code to then enter the ext for listening?

or dial in to the did ext when it picks up and goes to vmail
then punch in the fea access code and then punch in the ext to listen to:? (is this easier even though less secure?)

also. can this be an analog port ext?
also. what if the phone...ect...is just keeping ringing by punching in the access or barrier code does this interrupt the process. I am new to this!

I do get how to cha the cor for the ext. any further step by step scenario process on how to do this will help me.

thanks for the replies!!

Actually,

You'll dial the DID, the PBX will pick-up and play a tone, you dial the barrier code, you'll get dial tone, you dial the FAC for service observe and the extension you want to observe, you'll get conformation tone and either be listening to a call, or hear silence until the person you are observing is on a call. If you hear busy signal after dialing the FAC and extension, you dialed an agent ID that is not logged in. If you hear wave-off, you dialed an extension that is not adminstered on the system.

The only reason your AUDIX would come into play is if you don't have a DID and have to come into the PBX through an auto-attendant on your AUDIX.

The way I did mine was I made my DID extension a VDN and prompted the caller to enter a passcode in the vector. If the passcode is entered correctly the FAC is dialed and from there you can enter the extension to monitor.

Nice. I like that better than remote access. And there are people out there that have vectoring turned on, but not remote access (if you ever disable remote access, you can't turn it back on). You get a star from me for that one.

so how would I do the vdn thing? I know I have it. I am new. I can change the cor locally and then program to a button and it works. so how to set up (step by step method for me please) on how to change a vdn.

also folks. acronyms kill me.

so what is the full name of a vdn and what does it do.
so what is the full name of a barrier code? and what does it do? I know what a fea access code is:

so......thanks for all the help.

Mikey

What you need to do is create a new VDN using a DID extension and assign it a vector. Create an annoucement that says, (Please enter your passcode) and one that says, (Incorrect passcode.)Below is my vector I have setup for remote monitoring.

1 wait-time 0 secs hearing silence
2 collect 4 digits after announcement 12345
3 goto step 5 if digits = 1234
4 disconnect after announcement none
5 route-to number 123 with cov n if unconditionally

-Step 2 plays the annoucement 'Please enter your passcode'.
-Step 3 will direct to step 6 if passcode is correct.
-Step 4 plays the annoucement 'Incorrect passcode' and hangs up.
-Step 5 dials the FAC.
