remote procedure call does not start 1

I had the problem with the w32.blaster.worm . I downloaded nortons blaster fix, and it deleted the blaster.exe file. but everytime windows starts, it takes forever to load, and in the services menu . the remote procedure call is not started. if i try to start it, it gives an error saying that the service cannot start. how do i get the service running again ?

Check event viewer for the reason that it can't start. You should find a code that might help.

Another thing to try is System File Checker - at a command promt type sfc /scannow and have your XP cd handy.

has a .reg file that has all the of the default service setting for both Home and Pro XP versions.

Download the file, right click and select Install (or is it Merge ? I can never remember), and all you services will be at their default settings when you next re-boot.
