OK, I have the Citrix 1222 courseware, but I still cannot create a port for a remote client of mine to print. The remote client is a Win2K box with a cable connection. She can connect from the workstation, but not print. I am guessing I need to create a port, mapped to her USB print driver, for this to happen. I have tried creating a TCP/IP port on the Citrix server (on 2K Server), but it never seems happy about this process... Cna ANYBODY, PLEASE help me with this.

I have tried shadowing her session, which I can do, but I could not seem to be able to get anything to work that way, either... Do I have to go to her house and map the OS driver first, then re-direct the ICA client? I am at a loss, here... (with a whimper in his voice) Please help me...

Thanks, in advance...
David

You need to have installed the driver that she uses on the citrix server. Then it should autocreate, you should have to do nothing else. Make sure that autocreated printers is switched on in User manager or AD, and if you are using Web Interface make sure it is switched on there too.

In case the above does not work, what do you get in the app event log ?

OK... Here is the situation as it stands...

1: I installed the driver on the server. Server put it on LPT1
2: I remapped the print driver on the server, and directed it to both the user (user) and the client (pc).
3: I used (what I assumed would be) the same printer name as what I expected to see on the client end.
4: I re-directed the print driver in the CMC to the USB001, instead of LPT1.
5: On login, the Citrix security dialog appears, telling me and the user that the printers want to map to her computer.
6: She responds yes.
7: All of the network printers (including the one in question - a DJ640 - as default printer too, I might add) appear in her "printers setting" box.
8: The physical print device *is* attached to her USB port, but the driver is not installed - she cannot even print locally (I am thinking THIS is or might be the issue).
9: The Citrix server points to her LPT port as the print destination.
10: When the user sends a print job, it DOES appear in the DJ640 print jobs dialog box, but never prints. I have to kill it.

Suggestions as to where to go from here?

Number 8 is the killer if she cannot print locally then it aint going to work from Citrix.

You MUST resolve the situation so that user can print locally, or as ascotta says, "it ain't going to work." Printer autocreation will happen in a jiffy AFTER you get the bugs worked out of the first problem.
