I am working on a transition plan to move a database from development to a production environment maintained by the IT department. Once the db has been moved to IT, there will be no physical access to the server. Because of an ongoing need to correct typos and data entry errors, there is a requirement for some type of remote access. In addition, phase 2 development will continue on the original database and items (fixes, new tables, new stored procedures, etc. ) need to be ported to the production database when complete. Essentially I need a remote version of Enterprise Manager. Can this function be remoted by registering a new server in my development version of SQL Server 2000?
Although I have extensive experience with DB/2 and Oracle, I am a relative newbie to SQL Server and would appreciate pointers to whatever native tools and services might be available. Thanx.
