Remote Desktop

I am looking for a remote desktop application that will do the following:
*Allow someone to be at the console of the pc, and allow another to logon with a remote desktop that will not disturb the session that is already established at the console
*Restrict which applications that the remote user can run
*Runs on windows XP Pro

Naturally I looked at RDP that comes with XP Pro but the person at the console has to accept the connection, and then he can't continue working normally.

I am going to divide your request in two parts:

The Remote Desktop package includes two different access methods. Remote Assistance would not disturb the console session in progress, but would require user acceptance. Remote Desktop would disturb the console session in progress, but not require user acceptance.

For Remote Assistance your security priviliges would be equivalent to the user you are helping. Fore Remote Desktop your security would be controlled by your logon username and password as locally defined.

There is no provision to offer a some from Remote Assistance, and some from Remote Desktop features in the connection.

I do not know of any free utilities, including VNC variants, that would offer all the features you requested. Nor do I know a security constrained remote control program from a Third-Party that is a good match either.

Remember you can always logon remotely as the same username and password of the remote client, albeit it is a new session under Remote Desktop.

I guess the feeling is that if you permit a remote connection, you either know the party and what they can do, or you just do not permit the connection at all.

It might be easier if you gave a specific example of a task that the remote user would be required to do, and what they would not be allowed to do.
