Remote Desktop periodically quits responding

Occasionally, Remote Desktop quits responding when I try to connect. This is the 2nd computer that has done this out of the many that I manage. The first one ended up getting formatted/reloaded and since I have not had any trouble with it. I now have another and just don't want to go through the headache of formatting/reloading.

The XP firewall is not turned on. I have permissions to log into this computer. Restarting the computer ALWAYS solves the problem, albeit only temporarily. On the first computer (the one that was reloaded), when Remote Desktop quit working so did VNC. Again, restarting the computer would always fix it, but it would have to be restarted EVERY day - sometimes more than once. I have not loaded VNC on the second computer to see if it quits responding as well - I assume it does.

Does anyone have an idea? What services should be started to allow Remote Desktop & VNC to work?

Thanks a million!

to Err is human, to really foul things up you need to hire me.

Could it be the power saving feature of the NIC? Device Manager has a Power Management section for NIC that may have something of interest.
