The goal here is to have multiple remote desktop connection (RDC) over VPN.

The problem I am running into is when I have two users using VPN concurrently, only one user is allow to use RDC. If both attempts to user RDC, then one or the other RDC freezes.

My current configuration is a linksys router that has the VPN port open on a Windows 2000 Server.

What do I need to do in order to have multiple RDC over VPN connection. If I need to replace that cheap router, what do you recommend to use?

I'm not sure, but it looks as if the simple linksys router is not able to differentiate between the two clients requesting terminal services connections.

As an alternative to replacing the router, have you tried putting more than one IP on the server? maybe that would work to have each user connect to a different ip. though something tells me that you can only forward that port to one IP.

This may be a question for a networking forum, and you may want to get a SOHO cisco router though they will requrie a little configuration.

Josh,

Thanks for the reply. When I was testing the connection, I realized that I used two vpn connection from my home on seperate computer. In the past, I was able to connect to the work office and my coworker also connected to the work office which had no problem using RDC.

I am thinking that I cannot have two VPN connection from the same home but can have it at seperate location. Let me know if I am wrong. I will do some further testing.

I have had problems in the past using more than one vpn connection when behind a SOHO router when they both terminate at the same point. That could be it. You shouldn't have a problem if you are at seperate locations. If you need more than one computer at the same location on a VPN to the same destination, you may want to consider setting up a VPN between the destination and your router, that way anyone on your home network could use it (only use this option if your home network is secure and all users need to access the vpn).

As for VPN connections go, the pix I have set up at the office will support over 25 concurrent VPN connections so like i said, shouldn't have a problem with multiple vpn connecitons from different locations.

Hope that helps.
