Greetings,

Here's the deal....have remote desktop setup through VPN XP-XP, receive a message :

a licensing error occurred while the client was attempting to connect (licensing timed out). Please try connecting to the remote computer again.

I try it on another remote desktop, and it works %-( checked services, and all seems started.

Any help appreciated.

Are you trying to connect to a Terminal server or to an XP station?

This is just a guess, but I would try deleting this registry key on the machine that you are trying to RDP FROM:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSLICENSING

Delete the MSLICENSING key and everything under it. Then reboot and try it again.

If that doesnt help, check out this site for anything TS/RDP related:

Whats different about that pc. Is remote desktop connection enabled on that system? Right click my computer, then remote. Remote desktop uses port 3389 I think, is it open.

Yeah......did that and still no work........

Got VNC working....so no big deal...

Yeah with VPN you shouldn't have to open any ports, as you are circumventing the firewall...

what version of XP were you attempting to connect to? You cannot connect to XP Home via remote desktop.
