Remote Desktop Connection in WIN XP Home edition 3

My brother is having problems with a new scanner I gave him. Can I use Remote Desktop Connection to be able to see his desktop and help him troubleshoot? If so, how. If not, is there some other way to do it?

If your brother with the scanner is using XP Home, Remote Desktop is not an option for you.

Remote Assistance is possible, and likely a better choice:
