I have a xp home machine connecting into a xp professional machine. How do I add a local printer to the remote computer to use while I'm connected? Thanks, Daren

In the remote desktop Options, Local Resources, do you have printers checked? I use RD quite often but haven't tried this. Will it add, if you go to Start, Printers & Faxes, Add a printer? I can't try it in this direction right now. If you're still having trouble, post back and I will try tonight from home.

Yes I do have it checked. I believe it is something with the ports. Tyhanks, Daren

OK, I just remembered to check this. My local printer automatically shows in Printers & Faxes on the remote when I connect. Is your local printer not there? Have you tried adding a printer. One other thought - are you running RD in a full screen window (maximized)?

I am running it in a full screen window. I have tried adding the printer, but I need to figure out the ports to use. Thanks for the help. Daren

OK, now I've got you - temporary mental lapse. On my RD, my local printers are setup as follows:

Port Desc Printer
TS006 compname:prn1 Lexmark...
TS005 compname:prn2 Cannon....

One interesting thing to note, is that there are also listings for my Com ports etc. So, in contiunation of the above

TS004 compname:com1
TS003 compname:com2 etc.

I assume that TS stands for Terminal Services. So, check the port listing for any printer that's already listed and use the next higher TSXXX for the local one that you're trying to add. Best of luck.
