Hello - We have allot of users that move and want their number remote call forwarded. What are the pros/cons of call frowarding off your PBX verses having the local phone comapny call forward the number? What is the most cost effective way to do this. I prefer not to forward at all but I have no choice. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Personally I would either setup some coverage path remotes or call foward off net to have complete control. The downside is this will be using 2 trunks for these type calls. Plus if their is any calls about these people not getting thier calls is is as easy as a status station to see if it is call fowarded and to where.

I agree with Mike. You do the call forward via the PBX. This way you are in control and can make changes when necessary. The only advantage of using the CO for a call forward is for DR purposes.

Thank you for the inforamtion - Is there a command on the PBX that will tell you all the numbers that are remote call forward? We have folks that move from one side of US to other and want to keep their West Coast number, I'm trying to do a cost analysis of what this is costing our company - not to mention all the numbers that the CO if fowarding. Thanks Again!

Yes,

You can type "list call-forwarding"

This will show you all the extensions that currently are forwarded and to what number.

Do not use the phone company for this....not only is it more costly, you lose control and are often unable to get a lec to make changes as quickly as your end-users may need them.
