I'm trying to set up remote assistance to work between two laptops on our network. They were created through a standard image. I keep getting an error that is something like "the administrator has disabled this program" I've enabled the solicited and offered assistance in the group policies editor...still nothing. Do I have to be connected to the internet for it to work or is it enough that I am on the same network

Have you forwarded the necessary ports?
If your intention is to go back and forth between clients on a local LAN:
Not too that BOTH clients have to be at Service Pack level 1/1a or level 2 for this to work reliably.
