Remote administration erroring out

I installed a Backup Exec patch and rebooted a remote server. I can no longer access that server. It will allow logins and seems to be running exchange etc just fine but I can't get into it to access BA Exec or anything. I'm trying to find some workaround that doesn't include having someone restart the server there. I get the message detailed in this KB article but on a 2003 server.
