Remote admin

Ok, im new the the IP Office. Im trying to figure out how to Manage these remotly. Iv seen the cheap and dirty of using PC anywhere. Iv seen talk of using a BRI and also VPN to the network. What is the Modem 2 card used for, plain old dial up ?

Im just looking for plain dial up connectivity to remote access.

Your options are

On the small office you can enable the modem on analog line one and create a dial up connection.

ISDN dial up thru an IPO at your site
You can also remote control a pc this way to admin the VM server

or your cheap and nasty PC anywhere or any other remote control software

Check out the job aids they give detailed instructions on setting up all of the above

I am now a confirmed fan of DAMEWARE, I was not to keen on it at the start but it great.

I have used most remote access solution's VNC, PC-ANYWHERE, Radmin, TS Etc.

The good thing about Damwere is it allows you to remotly install the service from a central server. Providing you have the correct Username and Password for Admin rights to the machine you want to control.

Also the Damewhere client comes standard on the AVAYA CD's !!

If you nly wish to talk to the IPO then all you need is Dialup Networking & a data capable line (ISDN or even Mobile V110 at a push)

Default settings
User Name:-RemoteManager
Password:- thepword

unless the IPO is a DHCP server you will need to have an IP address of 192.168.99.x

Once connected open manager, gor to file/preferences & set the IP address to that of the remote unit.
open config & program as normal.

if you have a number of sites It can be usefull to configure this information inot a standard service withing an IPO

Obviously for security Allways change the default password for RemoteManager
