I am looking for a way to log into my switch from the house, a modem is not an option as far as i know as i use VoIP and as far as i know i cant run a modem through it, and have no dedicated land line.
I was wondering how to set up a networked connection to my switch, what will my IT department have to do? Will i need a VPN from my house to access?
This is not something that i "need" per say just something that would be helpful to me as i wouldn't have to go to work every time someone locks them selves out of voice mail or they want something changed. I am on call 24/7 but this would make it easier to deal with those calls that always come in on vacation/weekend/sick days.

why not VPN to your company's network, then either remote desktop to your PC, or in theory, you should be bable to access the PBX assuming its on the same network.

If you are using ASA...It is really easy. I do it all the time. I use a laptop on a docking station for my computer during the day. I take it home every night, and if I get that "dreaded cell phone call" (EC500 can be great, and then again...), I can just VPN into the network from my high speed internet and I can work, just like I was sitting at my desk. This is the best type of solution, and any company that expects their people to be on call, should provide that kind of access.

This is just my opinion, but I would go that direction...
