Remote Access

As far as I can tell, I have followed the directions... I have built a user "remote" with remote permissions. I built a dial up connection and checked the terminal box and unchecked use default gateway. I get the terminal window and put in my user name and password and then hit enter at the default terminal. I click done and then get a screen back that it is verifying the user name and password which eventually tells me the server is not responding. Can someone shed any light here?

As an update, I have changed to a SLIP connection and it no longer prompts me to do the final "verifying" stage. It seems to connect and I get the icon. I just can't get to the 8300 or the web page admin.
