I upgraded to S8710 cm 3 over the weekend. Everything is running fine. But now my remote access line no longer allows me to login. Avaya has told me that I can no longer use the INADS line for remote access. Has anyone else had this problem, and what have you used as a work around.

You need to create a dial-up session then launch a PPP session to the server... Most access is done over VPN or direct LAN connection.

A little more convaluted.

Thanks,
CJH

98Converter can you please expand on this. I am having the same problem. Do you use Procom, ASA or Hyperterm. How do you launch a PPP secession.

Thanks in advance
ED

1a2 to ip I seen it all

You use "Network & Dial Up connections on your PC. Create a dial-up with the number to the 8700. You then need to know the passwords to the servers (which aren't the same as your PBX login). Once on the server, you launch a PPP session and then connect to the GUI through ASA with your credentials.

You need to know the server level password first thing though. If you have a business partner they'll usually divulge this - Avaya is a little more stubborn.

VPN is much easier~

Thanks,
CJH

I also needed to have a remote login in the pbx if I was using the indads. This was to connect to the linux server, then I was able to Use my regular login to access my 8710
