I am quite new to remote access i want some mobile users to acces their email and possibly other apps through a vpn-is this best way or should i just give them OWA for email??
advice much appreciated

If all they need is Email, enable pop3 and smtp on your email server and let them use whatever they have. Unless the powers that be won't let you. As for other apps., it would depend on the app.

jon to clairify the other app would be office at the moment they wopuld have a local office on their laptop and simply take their files locally, this is seen as a security risk (lost laptops)so i was thinking of giving them their ica client via VPN and therfore outlook and office but not too sure if this wise from a security point??
cheers

Well, that is what most people are doing. Usually for more than Office, but whatever is needed. I know a lot of people set up a VPN, but I am not sure the trouble and expense is necessary. Metraframe and Nfuse have 128 bit encryption and can use SSL connections. I think that is sufficient, and a whole lot cheaper to implement.
