Got a quick question on a problem that maybe someone has encountered previously, I’ve already searched the forums but really came up blank. So here I am to pick your collective brains.

We have the Remedy Action Request system installed on multiple machines that connect from a remote location. All of our machines/remedy work fine except for one. This sole machine when logging and authenticating to Remedy goes thru the process of opening a total of 36 windows (Home Screen, Search, and Create).

I myself am not a proficient Remedy user. However the personnel we have as “trained maintainers” of the system are unable to diagnose the problem and are more than content to just let it continue.

So if anyone has any ideas or suggestions please post them and I will see what works. In the time being I will poke around the system and see if I can find anything. I will post my corrective action as soon as I figure one out!

One would think that there has to be something about that one PC thats different from the rest, e.g. operating system, latest updates, bad load of Remedy, different version of Remedy, bad registry setting etc..

Have you tried to uncover what that difference may be?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Remedy?

Whoever was using this machine has the option "Save Windows Workspace on Exit" checked. Go to Tools, Options, General Tab. In the "On Exit" section, make sure the box is checked for "Save Windows Workspace". Close all windows and exit the system. Log back into the system, and uncheck the box.

This should take care of the problem.
