I'm having an odd issue with some new PC's we have.

We have some 18 month old 17inch CRT monitors, thay have been in use all that time with no issues. We have just bought some new PC's with new Intel mobo's and are experiencing an odd issue.
When the PC boots the monitor turns on and shows the BIOS then the Windows XP boot up logo but as soon as it switches to the windows driver just before you get the logon box the monitor turns off. If i plug in another monitor i can see the logon box so it's not the video output that's gone also if i reboot then sometimes it comes up just fine.

The problem seems to be random but is happening with about 4 out of 30 PC's, all PC's and monitors are identical models.

Has anyone seen this before?

Cheers.

It sounds as though for some reason the signal is "out of range" once the proper driver is loaded.
These monitors might not be able to display at a particular refresh rate where the "spare" monitor can.
Kinda weired but I would go fully into windows and set a default resolution and refresh on each of the machines, say 1024 X 768 at 60htz then see how they behave.
Also:
Is there a Relysis driver available to download for these particular monitors? so the machines automatically recognise the display defaults.
It might also be advisable to download and install the latest VGA drivers for the machines (I'm guessing if they are office machines that driver will be for Intel Extreme graphics?
But check first.

I've tried setting the bare minimum i'm afraid but still no joy. I'm having trouble finding a driver as non of the disks seem to of been kept and since Relisys went under a couple of months ago their web site seems to have stopped offering driver downloads.

Cheers.

It turned there was a sightly newer driver on the ATI web site and it did the trick. Very odd.

Cheers for the suggestion.
