OK, so I currently have an Exchange 2K3 Server deployed in a Windows 2000 Server domain. It's published behind a ISA 2000 server. Until now I've connected my users directly to the exchange server. However, I now have users that work from home and are trying to connect to their email via POP3/SMTP.

The users that send directly through the exchange server have no problems whatsoever.

The users that are trying to connect via the POP3/SMTP channel are having problems sending emails to people outside of our organization. They can receive emails no problem. They can also send emails to anyone within our domain. Whenever they try to send emails to an external domain they keep getting an error stating "Server Response 550.5.7.1 Unable to Relay for blank@blank.com"

Any ideas? This is killing me

Thanks!
Matt

That is probably because your relay settings are too strict.
Well, they should be strict of course, but you need to be able to add those externals to the Allowed list, by IP or so, although that is always the tricky part.

If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, expect random guesses or no replies at all. Please specify details.

I have that user added to my list for relaying and yet it still doesn't seem to work. There's no way that I could add his IP because he'll need to access it from anywhere. Should I add the IP of the proxy/firewall server?

Thanks!
Matt

not the Ip of the router or anyone can relay!

If you cannot identify him, you're other option is to let them connect with VPN, so they get a 'controlled' IP address, which you can then add.
