Anyways...

for some quick examples including related selects. Potentially unlimited numbers of related selects also!

The image manipulation is DEAD EASY.

nifty little html tooltips also.

way too much to get into here. If you have a chance, sign up at hostmysite for totally free CFMX8 development / testing hosting

(hit submit key too early!)

But I do like a lot of the new features in CF 8. I've been debating installing the beta and playing with it. According to Macradobe it has "more than 50 new CFML tags and functions."

Sweeeeet......[smile]

Kevin, looked at that link in IE.

1. I like the tooltip feature. But i'm guessing links are not allowed inside the tooltip box. When I mouse inside the tooltip (hover over the car image) the tooltip closes. Woulda been nice to have links in the tooltips. Also, are the attributes changable? Like color, font-style, fade-in/fade-out, etc?

2. The related selects is a GREAT addition (I know i've racked my brains trying to get a three-way related selects to work for a client (got it to work and wrote faq232-6607)

3. The auto-suggest option (while a GREAT idea) the application of it i'm not too thrilled with. In my IE6 (using a cable modem connection), I typed in 'K' (as you suggested) and it took a second or so for the suggest box to appear. I had to see the rotating circular animation. Just imagine how long it will take to load if the suggestion is more then 5 items. Just like the related-box, on the same client's admin portal I implemented this auto-suggest idea using CF and JS and it loads much faster. I will put up a public copy on my site and post the link here--you know so you can compare the load time.

4. I like the image function. Finally a decent image function that looks to be fast, and with cool features like blur. Although, I would still use image.cfc ( cause it offers more options and it's also fast.

What other cool features does it have?

I would like to see WYSIWYG editor like TinyMCE built-in. Although that would probably go with cfform, which I hate using.

The Autosuggest I left default, and it's grabbing the data from the server each time it checks, The Free Beta hosting is painfully slow. You can drop a comma list in the cfinput tag for autosuggest and it's 100% client side after that. Super long lists might not be good that way though (1000's)

You can set the delay between searches, and other timers on the autosuggest. By default it waits before it starts the first search and waits a little before it searches again for the next update.

The cftooltip I also left default. It disappears fast, but you can change that. It also is fully style-able. You can put any html inside of it without limits - but if you get crazy there are better solutions like cfwindow that is a drag-able, close-able floating div window that is pretty nice and also highly customizable.

A modified version of FCKeditor (they say it's based on fck) is indeed build in to use with cftextarea! I haven't checked it out yet i really REALLY want to see if they made the file upload portion of FCK better!

The entire list of image functions and cfimage functionality is pretty impressive. What I demonstrated is just the commonly used basics.

I was playing some more and was able to now get the image to update without refreshing the page on submit. I have no previous ajax experience and got this going from examples in the docs in 30 minutes.
