I've accidently delete a XP workstation from the domain. When I try to rejoin the workstation, from the workstation with the domain admin creditial, the domain accepted it. After the reboot, when the user logs in they get an error saying that the domain controller could not be reach or there isn't a computer account for the workstation in the domain.
What I think is happening is the secure channel was broken and now the computer account's password is screwed up. Need to reset the computer account so a new pass phase can be generate between workstation and domain.
I've tried:
rejoining the workstation under a different name.
reset the computer account from the domain controller - said it was reset successfully.
Delete the computer account from domain and rejoin.
Use netdom to reset computer account-get a access deny error when trying to reset.
Nothing seem to work. I don't want to reinstall the operating system on the workstation because it's a dell xp image and it would be the SID.
I've done some checking and the best i found was restore the domain controller from tape. Not an option for now. Any help would be appreciated.
