Reinstalling Exchange 2000

I recently had to rename my local domain, so in the process I unloaded exchange, demoted my DC and then repromoted it with the new domain name. I then attempted to reinstall exchange and everything appears to have loaded correctly.

When I try to mount the store, I get an error stating that an internal error has occurred. Try restarting the exchange system manager or the exchange information store service or both. ID no c1041724 exchange system manager.

They information store service is running but I do not see the system manager. I do have a system attendant, I am not sure if they are one in the same. I also do not see the M exchange drive on the system.

Is there something that I did not run? It was up and running under the old domain.

Any ideas?

Thanks

ESM is the application used to manage Exchange.
SA is the service used to start Exchange.

Do you have the Exchange services? Have you restarted and also installed SP? SP4 is better than SP3 but if you are restoring using dropped in edb files, you need to stay at SP3.

Good Point!!

I have enstalled SP4 on W2k server but have not updated to SP4 after reinstall of the Exchange server. Will try that tonight and see if it works.

Will let you know.

thanks...
